Chris is a recognized expert in social justice issues and public policy advocacy. His writing is deeply rooted in his belief in the transformative power of public policy and its ability to address societal inequality. He has served in various roles that have allowed him to advocate for policy changes on the state, local, Tribal, and federal levels.
Chris's record has been built by over a decade of service. From serving as an intern in the mayor's office in his hometown of Rowland, North Carolina, to working as a research assistant in the Indigenous Law and Policy Center at Michigan State University to his role as the Policy Director of the National Indian Health Board, Chris has a long track record of success in policy research and advocacy. His research has been cited in the Harvard Law and Policy Review and reports published by the Congressional Research Service and California State Bar and his writing has appeared in publications ranging from The Robesonian in Robeson County, Norh Carolina to The Daily Yonder, a national rural publication to The Washington Post.
He graduated from Dartmouth College with a double major in Native American Studies and Social Policy. He also has a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His writing appears in multiple publications, and he has also presented his research at various conferences, including the American Bar Association’s Equal Justice Conference. He is also a past president of the Dartmouth Native American Alumni Association.
Chris is a citizen of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.
